Chevrefrit au miel

Carpaccio de daurade

It’s scorching hot outside, just enough to make you feel like melting. You took a stroll around Riva promenade and now you’re in the Diocletian’s Palace, wandering around and feasting your eyes on all the ancient wonders. The moment, however, is interrupted by the shaky legs and growling sound of your stomach. Suddenly, all you can think about is sitting in the shade and nibbling something delicious yet light and refreshing, something that’ll be a perfect prelude to an afternoon swim…
Great news – we know just the place for you! Laganini Tavern, a superb destination for foodies, is right in the middle of the Palace, just ten steps away from the magnificent Peristil. On top of divine starters and main dishes to die for, we now offer a special menu consisting of three rich salads, beyond doubt the best ones you’ll try this summer! They are served every day from noon till 5 PM so don’t hesitate and rest your heavy legs in the shade of our terrace, take a deep breath, and – protected from the prying eyes – enjoy your ideal meal of freshness, health, and Mediterranean yumminess.
Mamma mia! A divinely creamy burrata is like a pool playground to sweet Adriatic shrimp sprinkled with black olive powder, garnished with fresh and semi-dry cherry tomatoes, purple onion, and fresh basil. The explosion of colors and delicate flavors will get your eyes a long-lost sparkle and your organism energy necessary to actively endure yet another hot summer day. Have a glass of Sauvignon or Chardonnay, toast to your healthy decisions, and you’re ready to conquer the world (or at least Split).
Our chef gave this Dalmatian classic a contemporary twist. Queen octopus has made herself comfortable on a queenly bed of arugula and iceberg lettuce surrounded with a selected company: capers, purple onion, fresh and semi-dry cherry tomato, all sprinkled with a royal black olive powder. Why a queen, you might ask? You’ll know it when it rules all your senses one bite at a time. A glass of sparkling wine or champagne is the right choice to enhance this royal meal. However, if you’re not about to go all out, a white wine of accented freshness such as Riesling or Debit will do too.
According to the protocol, after the queen, one should introduce the king as well. Ladies and gentlemen, his majesty – the steak! Well-aged and blushed in the cheeks, the beefsteak took on the royal crimson of semi-dry cherry tomatoes. It sits on the throne of arugula and iceberg salad coated with the tenderness of pine nuts and Grana Padano cheese. The steak might be the king, but with a glass of good Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, or Plavac Mali, you’ll feel like a true emperor, a worthy heir to old Diocletian whose chambers are now home to your gastronomic delights.
