Wine and cakes!

Wine and cakes!

A well-thought-out dinner is simply not complete without an attentively dreamed wine story that fulfills every moment, from a hearty welcome to a farewell into the lovely Split night. On this journey, our educated staff will put you through an unforgettable wine spectacle with wines that follow your unique rhythm tunefully and in perfect harmony.

No wine story is set in stone. Depending on one’s preferences and chosen menu, a starting point can be a white pinot, champagne, a gentle rosé, or a robust red wine: there’s no one way, just your way! Course by course, knowledgeably, imaginatively, and intuitively we dance around the wine list, following your rhythm and listening for your affinities. As the end is known to crown the work, we’ll give our best to save the pièce de resistance for the dessert. At this point, we’ll try to wow all your senses with wine that perfectly matches a chosen dessert, complementing it with a stunning aftertaste worthy of an unforgettable evening.

Memorize the rules (to know how to break them)

There are three general rules to obey when it comes to pairing wine and desserts: they should be similar in color, wine should be sweeter than the dessert itself, and the aroma of the wine should complement the subtleties of the predominant tastes of the desert. Ideally, one should strive to obtain the unity of these general rules, but tastes differ; some are more avantgarde than others, and in the end, food & wine guidelines are merely guidelines rather than an obstacle to personal enjoyment – it was not without reason we asserted that no wine story is set in stone.

Enjoy the sweet(est) life

In a story that follows the color gradient from the lightest to the darkest, the ideal climax would be a cake with strong notes of dark chocolate, like our sumptuous chocolate cake. For a full hit, pair it with Zinfandel. If you have chosen a good old classic Pinot Blanc as a starting point, why not opt for a Pinot Noir to end the experience perfectly. Cheesecake, on the other hand, is much more forgiving than chocolate when it comes to wines so you won’t go wrong with Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Italian or Dalmatian Prosecco, or a rosé with a strong, fruity aroma. A high-quality dessert wine like Momjan Muscat is a perfect match for any kind of cake, as indeed is a fine sparkling wine. Our wine list, packed with sparkling wines and true champagnes, offers an extensive range of ingenious options, so come on in, embark on this comprehensive journey, and fear not – we’ll be there every step of the way to help you choose the optimal option.
